About "Children of the Falls"

The Readers Digest Version

Children of the Falls is a massive multi-narrative high fantasy series following the seven orphaned children of Kingsley and Lilyanna Falls. After their kingdom is attacked and they are scattered into the world, the children grow up seeking the skills they need to take back their homeland.

The Slightly Longer Version

Children of the Falls is easily the largest writing project I have ever undertaken. Begun in 2006, this massive series is essentially seven stories in one. The series includes hundreds of characters and spans multiple continents featuring distinct religions, cultures, and political views. It's depiction of a medieval fantasy world is brutal. Heroes are tortured. People are raped. Children are murdered. Bloodshed and despair flow as freely as human waste in the gutters of poor villages. This story isn't for the faint hearted.

If You're Still Reading This

My approach to this series has been, "Screw it. I'm writing what I want to write." I've worked with traditional publishers both as an author publishing a book and as an employee designing, editing, and illustrating the books of other writers. So I've seen the nightmarish process of publishing from both ends, and it's not much fun for anyone. The publishing model today has changed, and most of those still seeking to be published through traditional means are wasting their time.

When it comes to my own work I've decided that I'm done working with traditional publishers. Most publishers aren't out to produce quality content anymore. They're out to fill a mold with content that they know they can sell. I don't care about chasing the almighty dollar and I won't waste my time on those that do. I want to write what I want to read and tell the stories that I want to tell.

And so here is Children of the Falls, a brutally honest tale about the rise of tyranny and the fall of innocence, about the rape of freedom and one king's blatant disregard for humanity. This story chronicles the journey of those who stand in the gap when no one else will to fight the fight that no one else can.

I hope you'll join me on the ride.

    1. Me either! Sadly, I'll have to wait until I'm old and senile and have forgotten that I even wrote them.
